Program

"Tradition to Tradition" showcases classical, traditional, and contemporary songs that honor and celebrate the Jewish musical heritage. Featuring your symphony orchestra along with the San Diego Jewish Men’s Choir, this program includes selections by Weill, Verdi, and Chajes, as well as  show tunes from The Prince of EgyptFiddler on the Roof and more!

Artists

"Tradition to Tradition" features the choral singing of the multi-award winning San Diego Jewish Men's Choir. Under the musical direction of Ruth Weber, the men’s choir performs over 30 concerts a year and has been featured on the Chabad Telethon, on the documentary, Forever Strong, released in July 2015, on two specials on Jewish Life Television (JLTV), and as back up singers for the Grammy nominated children’s artist Mr. G. They perform music of all styles including, liturgical, pop, folk, gospel and musical theater, and sing in Hebrew, English, Yiddish, and Ladino. 

SDJMC’s first album, Heritage, released in 2014, is a compilation of historically significant Jewish Choral Music. The album was a winner in the Global Music Awards 2014. 

The choir’s second album, Kochi, which includes arrangements by 2014 Grammy award-winning composer/producer Ricky Kej, was released in 2015. It is a musical celebration of the history of the Jews in India, and features timeless Jewish melodies blended with traditional Indian instrumentation. The album 
charted at #2 on the BILLBOARD World Music charts, #4 on the Heatseeker charts, and won numerous awards.

"Tradition to Tradition" provides an excellent opportunity to partner and collaborate with your local Temple, JCC, and Chabad, and the program can also include a special appearance by the Temple Choir and Cantor.
